English 4

Our British Literature course offers a rich experience with classic and contemporary prose, poetry, and drama. Our reading includes but is not limited to Beowulf, Arthurian legend, The Canterbury Tales, The Lion in Winter, Macbeth, Hamlet, Grendel, Frankenstein, To Sir, With Love, Pygmalion, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Angela’s Ashes. Poetry, essays, and other minor genres are taught. Our year will include several independent, free-choice or directed-choice reading workshops as well. Of course, dynamic programs in vocabulary enrichment, research, college application essay writing, and writing for many audiences is offered.
